New Artisan Event
Fuori Salone 2016: Walking Light

Servomuto’s lampshades will light up new limited edition sneakers
The event is part of the “New Artisan” initiative to showcase handmade creations by up-and-coming talents

Milan Furniture Fair 2016 – Fratelli Rossetti will be presenting a limited edition pair of sneakers as part of the Milan Design Week events that take place in parallel with Milan Furniture Fair. The company has taken a design from the summer collection and added exclusive, hand-painted fluorescent details. The sneakers will be unveiled against the visually stunning backdrop of “Walking Light”, a project by Francesca De Giorgi and Alessandro Poli of Servomuto, who give a new slant to old models of light and lampshades.

Fratelli Rossetti and Servomuto may seem like two completely different brands, but they are guided by common values as they strive to combine age-old craftsmanship with contemporary design, tradition with research and Italian-based production with international scope.

The project with Servomuto is part of the New Artisan initiative, which gives up-and-coming talents the opportunity to showcase their skills in the boutique on Via Montenapoleone, in Milan. In a series of monthly events, the scheme will tell the stories of creative figures who are turning their passion into a career handcrafting items that are usually industrially produced, such as skateboards, lampshades, guitars, hats, mobile phone covers and sunglasses.
In light of the success achieved on March 15th 2016 with the first date with Atypical, a brand specialized in high quality handcrafted skateboards, Fratelli Rossetti proposes a new event with Servomuto and its innovative lampshades - hand made and made in Italy as usual.

The “Walking Light” installation will be on display in the windows of the boutique on Via Montenapoleone for the entire duration of Milan Furniture Fair, starting from Saturday 9 April 2016. The doors of the boutique will be open from 6 pm on Thursday 14 April for an inaugural cocktail party with DJ set.
The Furniture Fair gives us the occasion to strengthen the partnership with Fratelli Branca distilleries presenting a special cocktail made with Fernet-Branca that will be presented exclusively for the Montenapoleone boutique. The Franciacorta Consortium will also be a partner of the event. In accordance with the project vocation, Franciacorta presents wineries managed by young and brilliant entrepreneurs such as the Biondelli winery showcasing its exquisite wine for the occasion.

“Walking Light” will be an international affair, with window displays and dedicated events in the Paris and New York boutiques on 12 and 20 April 2016 respectively.

Fratelli Rossetti was founded in 1953 by the visionary genius Renzo Rossetti in Parabiago, just outside Milan. At the time, a national fashion industry was just beginning to develop in Italy. The company is now run by the brothers Diego, Luca and Dario from the second generation of the family. With their dedication and devotion, they have taken the company to its 60th anniversary and beyond, with a constant focus on quality at all times. Over the years, the brand has become synonymous with style in Italy and across the globe. It embodies the values of unparalleled craftsmanship.

Francesca De Giorgi and Alessandro Poli are the people behind Servomuto. The core idea at SERVOMUTO is to combine handmade lampshades in the most traditional forms with unconventional printed fabrics to product an unprecedented, unique blend. The original romantic features of the products are given a fresh twist by contemporary communicative content.
The items are made in the family workshop, which was founded in 1960 and continues to produce lampshades using entirely craft-based techniques.
Francesca and Alessandro have always sought out and collected old fabrics, clothes and embroidery from other eras. The initiative allows them to indulge in playful experimentation.
SERVOMUTO mingles poetic images and breathes new life into vintage items.
